Contract imposition will impair NHS recruitment

Practices will receive DES payments after all

GP targets are impossible

According to Health Education England (HEE), the organisation will achieve its ‘worst case scenario’ for GP recruitment by 2020, which will exceed the Government’s target of 5,000 extra doctors by more than 300.

Funding boost for GPs

The Government has announced that GP practices will be allocated a 4 per cent funding boost every year until 2021 to cover the “changes in GP workload” and will update the formula used to allocate funding to individual practices.

Out-of-hours GP providers being targeted

According to an industry body, out-of-hours GP providers are being targeted by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), which is pursuing some for historic tax liabilities and questioning whether the doctors on their books should be classed as employees rather than self-employed.
